Agarwal Packers and Movers – Consumer Review

I had booked a consignment with reference number (GC No) 4394127 on 17/08/2014 with Agarwal Packers and Movers, Bangalore for transporting the domestic good from Bangalore to Purnea. The delivery was done to me on 04/09/2014. I was shocked to see the condition in which the goods were transported to me. Many of my goods were damaged. Initially I contacted Mr. Tahir, the person who had come to my residence in Bangalore for getting me the quotation for the transportation of the consignment. When I called Mr. Tahir on 04/09/2014 after receiving damaged products, he gave answers like “Things do get damaged a bit in transit”, “Wear and tear does happen”, “I can’t provide email or contact details of higher authority, where I can register my complaints”, “You want to put complaint in Consumer Court, we deal with 100 such people daily. Do what you want”. I was shocked to hear the manner in which Mr Tahir spoke. This was completely frustrating. This kind of behaviour was highly unprofessional and I believed as a customer I was cheated. After this I had contacted a number of people like Mr. Reddy at Hyderabad office, Mr. N G Patro, Mr Ashok Tripathy, and many other people. After chasing them for quite a long time, Mr. Reddy asked me to contact Mr. Subroto Haldar in the Kolkata office. After this I was in touch with Mr. Subroto Haldar for few months. Initially he asked me all the details and the complaints I had. Despite of sending the mail and calling him again and again he gave new excuses every time. After chasing him almost 6 months he said since the consignment wasn’t insured, they won’t pay for the damages. I was informed by Mr. Tahir, while giving the quotation that the quotation cover everything for the specified amount. Also, the damage was done because of the carelessness of the company. Mr. Tahir had mentioned that any mishandling would be the responsibility of the company. The items that were damaged, were the result of complete mishandling of the items during transition. For TV, Fridge and Washing Machine, they had mentioned wooden crating package would be done at the Bangalore warehouse. But it was not done. Due to this the washing machine was damaged completely. Even after calling them and following them (while I was abroad) up for 6 continuous months, I didn’t receive any resolution from their side nor they provided any proper response for my complaints. After waiting for so long and giving then ample time, they didn’t resolve my problem. So, I am left with no other option to bring my concern through this platform to get necessary compensation and resolution for my problem and concerns. I hope you take some quick and stringent action against them and help me by getting justice.

Following are the list of the damaged articles. 1. Washing machine was broken from inside. Bottom part was completely damaged. The compartment where clothes are washed and dried was broken and its condition was as good as a scrap item that needs to be dumped. 2. Computer chair’s leg was broken in two parts. 3. TATA SKY antenna was damaged and its receiver was broken in two parts. 4. One cartoon was damaged and torn apart and after checking several things were missing. 5. Few other cartoons were in similar damaged condition. “There was not wooden crating for TV, Fridge and Washing Machine”. As per the invoice handed to me it was mentioned that wooden crating will be done at the Bangalore warehouse before my consignment is dispatched.
