Citibank stopped sending me Credit Card Statements dated 19.06.2007 and onwards till Statement dated 22.06.2008 i.e. continuously for 12 months. Inspite of repetitive reminders that statements are not being received by post, they did nothing. Afterwards, they did sent me duplicate statements for the period for apr-jun’08, apologised for non-receipt of the statements and reversed token amount of Rs.3,278.63 towards interest and late payment charges out of the total amount of Rs.10,129.64.
Then I replied them on 01.07.2008 via email at indiaservice@citicorp.com that the whole amount of Rs.10,129.64 should be reversed since the fault lies on your (citibank) part. Since I have already paid for the purchases made through the credit card periodically maybe sometimes lately due to absence of physical statement on desk, the charges & interest should be reversed.
But they did not respond. I stopped using the credit card since then. However, a loan emi of Rs.7,137/- was being debited every month which I used to pay in time. The said querry continued and multiplied the interest and other charges to Rs.21,268.43. Unfortunately, one emi of Rs.7,137/- was paid to them in excess. So the net amount of Rs.14,131.43 is still outstanding as overdues.
On 18.09.2009, I again sent a email to citi.care@citi.com for reversal of said charges which have been multiplied and doubled in 14 months. But no reply has been received till the date of this complaint to you.
Today, I visited their office at Ahmedabad and requested them to show a way out to get rid of mental torturing. However, they told that the only way out is to pay the full amount of overdues. That’s it.
How can a person shall pay any amount which is not legitimately payable by him.
Please do something.
