Chevrolet – Dhulichand Motors Pvt. Ltd – blatant cheating and fraud on the customer

Date of Occurrence: 19th October 2013 Course of Events : My Chevrolet Beat (petrol) was in due for its 3rd servicing. For this purpose, it was taken, by my driver, to authorized service centre operated in Berhampore, Murshidabad, W.B. by Dhulichand Motors Pvt. Ltd. On 19th October 2013. My driver explicitly mentioned, while handing the keys over to the person in charge at Dhulichand Motors, that no engine oil change was required because the car had run a mere 500 km (approx.) since the last change. No tentative expenditure amount was provided by the service station personnel while taking possession of the car. At the end of the day Dhulichand Motors billed me a whopping amount of INR 4011 for engine oil and oil filter change. (Bill attached) When I enquired why the Engine oil was replaced inspite of clear instructions that it was not required, the mechanic informed me that it was the set procedure and had to be done mandatorily. The second concern is the price of the engine oil they provided. They handed me back an empty 3L can of Castrol Magnatec 5/W30 Engine oil with printed MRP of INR 1317. Since the engine requires 3.5L and they returned an extra half litre (total 4L) Engine oil, the cost comes out to be INR 1756. But here they billed me INR 2314, as is evident from the attached bill invoice. Regarding the oil filter, they neither returned the old filter nor did they provide any packaging of the new one. They did not even disclose the specifications (make, MRP etc.) of the new filter. But in the end I ended up paying INR 1180 for it. Added to this was extremely rude behavior, unnecessary words of threat, and absolute disrespect of the people working at the service station. They refused to hand the keys back until the full amount was paid. This is evidently a case of blatant cheating and fraud on the customer. I request your good self to address the issue and provide compensation and, more importantly, justice according to the set judicial procedures.

Full refund of the amount stated. A minimum punishment for the dealer so that such things don’t occur to other customers in the future.
