DISHONOURING OF MY AXIS BANK CHEQUE AND CONSEQUENT HARASSMENT

Dear Sir,
I had made payment of telephone bills on 14 May 10 through three Axis Bank cheques from my ‘Priority’(!) Account at your branch. The cheques have been returned unpaid to MTNL by Axis Bank. The Ch nos. are 442769 for Rs.1112/-, Ch no. 442765 for Rs 952/-and Ch no. 442766 for Rs. 588/-.
On my complaint to MTNL, their investigation reveals, as mentioned by MTNL, that the cheques were returned by Axis bank along with many other such cheques, all of Axis Bank, due to the ‘system failure’ at the service branch of Axis Bank around the days when cheques were presented for payment. The quoted reason with returned dishonoured cheques is ‘FOR OTHER REASONS’.
The disconnection of my telephone was the first indication of such a problem. Apart from the extra payment to MTNL to restore telephones, the running around for fact-finding and rectifying the whole thing has been a matter of great harassment and humiliation for no fault of mine. For a retired defence officer, the disreputable tag of ‘dishonured cheques’ is the most disturbing part of the whole episode.
Kindly intimate the reasons for returning of my genuine cheques.
Sincerely,
(V K NANGIA)
