I bought an Aquaguard Geneus from Eureka Forbes Limited (P/1J, Ajaynagar Survey Park, P.O. Santoshpur, Kolkata 700075) through their door-to-door sell (Sales executive: Mr. Bimal Mondal, contact number: 7278660662) on 07.07.2013. Payment was made by cheque no 122936 drawn in SBI JU Branch payable to Eureka Forbes Limited which was encashed on 12.07.2013. The same (GWPDGENUS BCODE 12260 Sl. No. 3000788) was delivered by DHL Courier Service on 10.07.2013 and installed on 12.07.2013. Since installation there has been enormous amount of wastage of water through the machine’s waste pipe. Upon speaking to the Aquaguard mechanics I am told that there would be a 80:20 wastage that is for every 1L purified water produced there will be a wastage of another 4L of water. That is for 15L per day of purified water for a household there will have to be a waste of another 60L of water which is an enormous amount of waste for any household. This is something that is never mentioned to the consumers at the time of door-to-door marketing of the RO / Geneus products by Eureka Forbes’ agents. Many households cannot afford to waste so much of water and consumers would think twice before opting for this machine if they know that there would be a waste for 8L of water for every 2L of purified water obtained from this machine. Eureka Forbes knows this very well and hence there has been a deliberate effort on the part of Eureka Forbes as a company and its sales agents to suppress this vital information from customers. There is no mention of this water wastage issue on their website or in the brochures (User Manual or Leaflet) downloadable from their website or the hard copy supplied with the equipment. There is no specification anywhere in writing as to how much water will be normally wasted by this machine, thus consumers have no way of ascertaining if the increase wastage is due to a fault of the machine. Consumers do not get to know that their overhead tanks would keep emptying if they install this product.
I want this Geneus be taken back and full refund be made to me, as it was sold to me with incomplete information and suppression of facts. I need adequate compensation for causing me all the stress and harassment over this ordeal. And I request it to be made legally binding on Eureka Forbes to declare this water wastage issue on its website and and in its brochures and manuals so that customers can make an informed choice when opting for an RO filter.
