Excessive billing by Vodafone

I have been using Vodafone for past many years when I was stationed in Gujarat and in Chattisgarh. I never had any problem with them. I too paid their bills promptly. After relocating to Kolkata in November, 2014 I took a new Vodafone connection 8697340128. In the middle of Dec’14-Jan’15 billing cycle my number was disabled by Vodafone without notice. On calling their Customer care I learned that the unbilled amount had exceeded my credit limit of Rs. 5000. When I told the Customer care lady that the amount was very high and not justified, I was told to wait for the final bill which would be much less considering various standard deductions / discounts. There after I received a bill for about Rs. 400/- which I promptly paid around 12-Jan-2015 and my connection was restored. In the next billing cycle (2015 Jan-Feb) there was no warning that the unbilled amount against my name had exceeded my credit limit.

After I received an exorbitant bill and called Vodafone customer care number I was informed that for Jan-Feb billing cycle the unbilled amount had exceeded Rs. 8000/- . My query to Vodafone was a) why there was no warning / service interruption, in Jan-Feb billing cycle, when the unbilled amount exceeded my credit limit of Rs. 5000/-? b) In Dec-Jan billing cycle only about Rs. 400/- was the final billed amount though the unbilled amount had exceeded Rs.5000/-. In that case how in the next billing cycle (Jan-Feb 2015) the unbilled amount of Rs. 8000/- was billed as more than Rs. 4500/-. Judging by the standard deductions applied in the earlier month the final bill amount should have been far less. I have informed Vodafone, more than thrice, through mail and to their Customer care / Legal cell executives, on phone, that once they reply to my queries satisfactorily I will pay their bill. They have not bothered to reply till date. Instead they have also disabled my other Vodafone number 9830981623 causing me undue harassment and hardships and continue to send me inflated bills and notices month after month. I am looking for an early solution. Thanks. R K Mitra
