This is in reference to debit card payments by individual debit card holders in retail and other merchant establishments. Would like to bring to your kind notice that some retail merchants are charging 1.5% of cost of purchase as service charge for payment through debit cards which is not correct as per bank and RBI guidelines. The above dealer M/s Fortune Honda was bent upon in charging 1.5% of vehicle booking value of Rs 5000 if payment was to be made by a SBI/ICICI debit card which accounts to a service charge of Rs 75. On credit cards he had quoted a higher percentage of service charge approx 2%.

Humiliation. Irresponsible behavior of cashier concerned in nonchalant replying of the service charge requirements and asking to get cash instead of debit card payments. No courtesy or requests and very casual attitude towards consumers by M/s Fortune honda

I demand as a consumer that Debit card payments to be accepted without service charges.
