First of all I want to inform that am retired from Safdarjang Hospital (retired on 31st May, 1996). Having worked for 35 years in the SJH. My son is working as salesman in a shop. I am the registered consumer with the BSES I wish to submit a complaint against BSES who has harassed us and accused for tempering of electricity meter, theft of electricity. To begin with, a team comprising of 7-8 members from enforcement cell visited our home on 06.01.2014 for the inspection of meter installed in the open (without any lock). Upon inspecting the meter, they also concluded that the meter was not in a normal state and therefore, needed to be sent to the laboratory for the further investigation. We took this visit of BSES team casually thinking that it might be a normal routine case of the meter not functioning properly. But it left my entire family shocked when we received Speaking Order No.SO2266003140083 dated 18.03.2014 from Mr. Vinod Kumar, Assessing officer, Enforcement Office, Hari Nagar 15,04,2014 through speed post with a penalty of Rs.43,615/- They have mentioned in their Speaking Order about the show cause notice on 04.02.2014 for suspected theft of Electricity (Meter Tampering) was issued for requesting filing reply by 14.02.2014 and attending personal hearing on 24.02.2014. and also mentioned about Final notice dated 25.02.2014 for attending personal hearing on 12.03.2014 was issued. But we did not receive any notices except above mentioned Speaking Order accusing us of tempering of electricity and theft of electricity. This letter was a shocker for my entire family. We had already made a complaint regarding sparking in meter input terminal due to loose wire. They attended the complaint and rectified the problem without putting any seal. Nobody came to fix a seal on the meter then we wrote to BSES Office at Mangla Puri, Palam Colony, New Delhi – 110045. We have a copy of our complaint. If they called us we can show all the proofs. Our normal lives are disrupted by these sudden allegations of the BSES against us. The charges framed by the BSES are unilateral in nature and have hurt our sentiments and humiliated us. BSES is harassing us again and again by demanding a penalty of Rs.43,615/- and threatening of lodging FIR in case of non-payment by 21.04.2014 without any conclusive evidence. BSES is trying to malign the image of the senior citizens have been government employees. The BSES judgments have left us disgusted and in immense pain.
