Sub: Higher MRP charged by Sony Center

Sir,

I have purchased one 40” LCD from M/s Behl Associates, 26 E, Rajpur Road,Dehradun , Uttarakhand ( a Sony center) on 13.11.09 (W series, Invoice No:802507 dt 13.11.09)

I had visited the show room on 12.11.09 and was informed that price (MRP) of the subject model is Rs 93,900/- and as per Sony’s policy, I can avail a 20 % corporate discount on MRP and the net price payable was therefore Rs 75,120/-. As I had not carried necessary documents with me for availing the corporate discount, transaction could not be done on 12.11.09.

Next day ie on 13.11.09, I submitted the necessary documents to the Sony Center for availing corporate discount, received the item and made the payments of Rs 75,120/- as the invoice was raised for this amount only.

Now I have come to know that with effect from 12.11.09, the MRP of the subject model had actually been reduced to Rs 83,900/- and as such the invoice should have been raised and payment should have been made for Rs 67,120/-.(MRP minus 20 % Corporate discount).

I therefore requested M/s Behl Associates to look into the matter and arrange for a refund of Rs 8000/- immediately. The firm said that they can make the refund only after SONY directs them to do so. The matter was taken up with SONY and despite numerous reminders, i could not get any written response from them (Though telephonically I have been informed that nothing can be done in this regard now. When I asked for the reason and requested for a written reply, I again did not get any response)

As such I am forced to bring the matter to consumer court for early settlement of the issue and refund of Rs 8000/-
