irresponsible courier

I had booked consignment No. F70509583 from hospet on 27 april 09 to my daughter at gulbarga. the journey takes no more than 8 hours. but the above reputed courier took 8 days to deliver. the courier company is a hi-tech one with tracking facility online and other features because of which they chages much higher fee than the cheaper and normally assumed to be irresponsible couriers. the consignment reached gulbarga in 2 days i.e., on 29.4.09 as per the tracking system on line. however it was delivered only on 4.05.09. when i approached local office they rang up gulbarga office only to find out that the consignment was not delivered due to weather being very hot. this is not an acceptable excuse as it is normal for gulbarga to be hot in summers.

the goods in the consignment were sent for a particular purpose which was over by the time it was delivered. the opportunity was lost as the goods reached inordinately late due to sheer negligence. this is a very clear case of service deficiency due to which an invaluable opportunity is lost.

i have sent a letter dated 19 May’09 to the company demanding a compensation of Rs one lac and a reply before 15 days.

i request that the courier company be punished appropriately for belying the expectations. incidentally their web site has a system to indicate approximate time of delivery of the consignments booked. it showed that my consignment would be deliveredon 28.04.09 whereas they took one full week extra for delivery. i also want to be compensated for the loss of opportunity due to their neglegence.

further i want to give a proper coverage for an incident like this so that the general public becomes aware of the capabilities of these courier companies so that they will not entertain hopes of a quicker delivery just because they pay very high charges and go to hifi companies
