My salary account in kotak had a zero balance till 4 may 2015, but suddenly from 11 may 2015 it started showing -Rs5898.90. I did not do any transaction and dont even have any credit card. When I called the customer care, they said that it was because of non-maintenance for the last few months. According to the rule/Guidelines by RBI, no bank account can have negative amount just because of non-maintenance. It came into affect from 1st april 2015.

The bank executives are asking me to pay the Rs 5898.90 as if I don’t it will be bad for my credit score. I want to close the account and they are saying that will be possible only after the payment.
