My Micra is about 1 Year and 9 months old. Total kilometers on my Micra are 12500. On about 10th June 2013 the key of my Micra broke and part of the key got stuck in the car steering lock. I have talked with the Nissan Micra Dealer (Service Manager, Mr.Anthony) mentioned above as well as Nissan Micra Customer service at 1-800-209-4080 but am not getting any reply. The Dealer is telling that the keys are not covered under warranty and asking me to talk to the company toll free number for any question. Company toll free number is asking to talk to the dealer about any issue with the Car. I have also emailed Company (customercare.nissan@hai.net.in) about the issue and they are asking me to talk to the dealer. After I sent a follow up email to the company, I have not received any reply from them. Warranty Information and Maintenance Booklet mentions that “New Vehicle warranty covers all parts and components of each new NISSAN vehicle except for tires and those items listed under the caption “What is not covered” (Link to Nissan Warranty Online : http://www.nissan.in/en/web/header/header_4382.htm) Keys are part of the New NISSAN Vehicle and they are not mentioned in “What is not covered” section. The keys broke within warranty period while the car was driven for only 12500 kilometers. Because key is broken in the steering it cannot be removed and dealer is asking me to pay Rs.2000 for key removal and Rs.4000 for new key. I have asked the Dealer to give me in writing why the keys and subsequent damage is not covered under warranty and they are saying that they cannot give anything in writing. Dealer Service Manager promised me multiple times that he will talk to the concerned person in the Nissan head office but till date I have not received any call back from Dealer Service Manager.
I want company to honor the warranty agreement and pay for the removal of the key as well as provide a replacement key.
