I took an insurance policy with Metlife (Policy Number – 00154505) about 3 years back. I have policies with LIC and ICICIPrulife too. I always pay cash and get the premium receipt upfront. But Metlife refuses to hand over the premium receipt immediately. I understand if this was a cheque payment. They say they will only send it to your postal address. More over If your premium was due on – lets say 4th Jan 2010 and you paid it one month early. They refuse to send the receipt until its past the due date. Its ridiculous.
If you mail them this is the standard reply received:
“This is with reference to your e-mail, regarding above mentioned policy number. We wish to acknowledge the receipt of your premium towards January 2009 due. The due date of your policy falls on 04th January 2009 therefore the premium towards your policy will get applied as per your due date that is on 04th January 2009. Hence the Renewal Premium Receipt for the same will be sent across to your mailing address once the premium gets applied towards your policy”
I have not seen or heard any Insurer follow such a stupid policy. I have not received my Premium receipt yet even though I paid it on 7th December 2009.
