Packers Movers – Lost damaged items in consignment

Hi, I booked my consignment from Faridabad to Dehradun. Only one person along with driver came for picking our things. They packed few things in blister packs and others were taken without packing. On asking why other things are not being packed, they responded packing will be done at warehouse where they have dedicated people. Goods were collected on Wednesday night with assurance of delivery on Saturday morning. When we called on Thursday to check on the status of shipment, they told us our items are in excess of declared limit and we should pay Rs. 5,000 more otherwise this will not be shipped and we can take back our stuff from warehouse. Seeing no other alternative we agreed to pay additional amount of Rs. 4,000. Deal was to ship at Rs. 11,000. After making the payment, we made numerous calls to check status but no one picked the phone. On Saturday morning we were told shipment is delayed and will reach on Sunday morning but consignment reached at 4.30pm on Sunday. To our horror, we saw a truck with our stuff without any men for off loading. On asking driver replied he is not aware and he was just told to deliver the goods. he asked us to make arrangement ourselves. Finally I had to offload entire consignments myself. We could not check all the bags as we had to return back to Faridabad the same day. On thoroughly checking our stuff after few days we noticed lost items and called the company. Company person confessed that one of his employees has stolen items and equivalent money will be credited to our account. We called again to check on refund status, surprisingly the person changed the stand and started blaming us for the delay in informing about the loss. He said loss is covered only if informed on the same day. So company cannot give any refund and we should forget the issue. Please help me in getting my refund.

Here is the status on our loss – – Our glass cooking top was broken to pieces and rendered useless (loss of around Rs. 4,000) – Entire sack of groceries and toiletries was half opened and things were missing (loss of around Rs. 2,500) – On bag with newly bought shoes and slippers too was found opened and articles were missing (loss of around Rs. 1,500) – Our new mattresses were shipped unpacked (not even covered by a laminate or bubble wrap) and were badly soiled – Other packets were in bad shape as if they were kept under heavy weights This also caused lot of mental harassment as we had to make arrangements of grocery items in tired state of shifting
