We ordered the chlorinated refill from from pureit helpline on 26 November 2013 as the previous faulty refill was not functioning.Technician visited on 29th November. When he checked the refill he said that the refill is ok but there is calcium deposit in the refill. So he cleaned the refill and said that it will start functioning now. We trusted him and started using the water filter under the impression that its working properly. Actually we have been drinking dirty water containing bacteria since last few weeks due to result of which my 4 year old son fell ill and when lab report came he was diagnosed typhoid positive due to unhygienic drinking water due to negligence of Hindustan Unilever company.

My son was diagnosed with typhoid due to unclear unfiltered drinking water due to the negligence of Hindustan Unilever limited inefficient product which malfunctioned. We as parents had to undergo severe mental trauma as my son had to be hospitalized in govt hospital for a week. Due to typhoid he suffered high fevers and couldn’t sleep and eat properly. He was admitted in pgi and had swelling in his left leg knee joint due to complications of typhoid fever. It was a very unfortunate time for the whole family as hes my only child and nobody can see his child in pain and suffering.

I request that the company be penalised for the faulty products and inefficient services. This incident has traumatized me a lot. This is a case of harassment on the grounds of faulty products and services due to which we had to bear the mental harassment and economic loss was to the tune of 25000 rupees. So we request the consumer court to do justice and provide us a relief of 50000 rupees. This will prevent big companies to exploit poor people like me who are salaried and can’t afford to go for expensive treatment in private hospitals. Waiting for justice with high hopes.
