Last week, while searching on internet , I found this beauty parlour named -NEW FAIR, in Thirumala, Trivandrum. I wanted to have my hair straightened. I checked their website http://www.newfair.in/packs.html. which mentioned hair straightening starts from 3500.
I have done hair straightening last year in Bangalore that costs 4500 including shampoo and conditioner.
I have normal wavy hair and it almost straight
Since I do not live in Kerala and had come for vacation in India , I thought to do Hair straightening from God’s Own country, where it is said to treat guests as GOD.
I decided to book an appointment and also checked with the Owner of the Parlour-Miss Jayatha, about the cost of hair straightening who said as my hair was shoulder length, everything would cost something near R.S 4000 and she said she can adjust the prices.
The lady was so polite and friendly, may be that a strategy to get customers.
When I went to salon, it was so tiny, only 2 rooms, I felt to go initailly but as I had booked and appointment, and the ‘POLITENESS’ of Ms. Jayatha, I thought I had to be there , as she might give me a good service despite of 2 rooms. The lady named -Jayatha came, she was very friendly , I tried to know the actual price of the hair straightening,she always tried to avoid the question ever since I entered her salon.
She saw the length of my hair but didnt tell the price, again,when she applied cream on my hair she avoid to tell the price.
Now I insisted her, and then she started comparing her salon to bigger salon like LAKME, Fair beauty parlour, Kannammoola, Trivandrum,said bad about the hair dresser Mr. Viji.
Next, she said that she will do better than Famous hair dresser like Ambika Pillai.
I was wondering how people tried to get customers by disrespecting famous hair stylists in town.I have never heard of this before. Now she tried asking about me and my family, as she gathered that I do not live here.She told me her fees was R.S 7500 , I was shocked, she did not even give any spa or any shampoo.I told her that I came to her salon after checking the price, that was on the website. She was charging me too high. If i had seen the salon before , I would NEVER come to that salon.
I expressed my disappointment to the owner , but she didn’t budge
I asked her about why she charged so high, I asked her the reason, she was unable to explain. I think my biggest issue was that I wasn’t told of the fee beforehand. If I had known about this ridiculous fee and she didnot even explain what products she used on my hair.
Now, regardless of the fact that I really like Kerala , I definitely won’t be going back to that salon. Their website might get customers, but after seeing the 2 rooms and polite cheating business, they’ve lost a client for this and other services I had done there.
