Samsung – LCD 32 INCHES TV suddenly stopped displaying

Model code: LA32D48104LX2 Serial No: MQ2N3PBB401325Y Date of Purchase: 18-JUN-2011 I have the above said model LCD TV which suddenly stopped displaying on 6th’Oct though the audio is working fine. I have registered a complaint no. 8458194942 with Samsung India Customer Support. One gentleman came on 8th’Oct and opened the TV and found that the component Inverter PCB has gone bad. But he told me that that this part comes only with display panel. So I have to change the entire display panel which will cost me around Rs. 12000/-. I was shocked to know this. This TV is only 2 years old and it costed me Rs. 30000/ which is not a small amount for a middle class family. I am totally disappointed as I thought Samsung is a very good brand and they would have taken care of quality assurance for all of their products. I am not in a position to spend another Rs. 12000/- with no guarantee. When a new product itself failed miserably in 2 years I don’t think a spare parts can withstand even for 6 months. Based on my past experience spare part is only a secondary. It can’t give life like an original company fitted component. I have a v-guard stabilizer and a home inverter. On top of that we have a separate Transformer for our apartment. There is no question of any power surge. Samsung engineer also confirmed that this component is not affected by any power fluctuation and it is an internal component. We have been maintaining the TV very well. Even during Lightning we switch off the TV and remove the cable which was advised by the Cable operator. So it shows a clear substandard component which caused problem just after the expiry of the warranty period which is just 1 year since the date of purchase. I really don’t understand why I have to replace the display panel when the problem occurred was on a small component Inverter PCB. Samsung engineer told me that this part is not available separately. I trusted Samsung product very much. I didn’t realize a high end LCD TV can malfunction in 2 years time.

Since it is a major repair which can’t happen in a good quality product, I want Samsung India to bear the entire cost of replacing the display panel. They can’t get away saying now the TV is out of warranty period.
