SBI – Fee Debited for reissue of ATM Pin

I ordered for a new ATM card from the SBI branch in IIT ROORKEE. I received the card through post on August 5th 2014. I went to the branch on the same day to collect my ATM pin and was told that it hadn’t arrived yet and I was asked to check two days later. I went to the branch again on 7th August 2014 and was asked to come on Monday (11th August). When I went on Monday, the manager checked all records and wasn’t able to locate my envelope containing the pin. He thoroughly checked his records in front of me and found no record of it. I was asked by the manager to file for a reissue of the pin through their helpline. When I called the helpline , they informed that they will be charging a fee of Rs.51 for reissue of the pin. Since I had no choice I asked them to proceed with reissue of the pin. The charging of Rs.51 for reissue of the pin when I had nothing to do with the misplacement of the envelope or the loss of the envelope during transit is gross misuse of our privileges as a consumer. The SBI is wrong in charging a fine of Rs.51. As I wasn’t the recipient of the PIN , I can’t complain against the courier company and therefore I shouldn’t be the one responsible for paying for the damages.

I demand a relief of Rs.100,000 for the inconvenience caused.
