Tata Sky – Deactivation of services after monthly recharge

I received a call from tatasky customer care on 27.01.2014, saying that channels are being upgraded to MPEG-4, hence I would not be able to view certain channels owing to its shifting to the new technology. I was asked to upgrade to the new MPEG-4 technology to continue viewing the services. They informed me that I have two modes of payment to choose from, online recharge of Rs.990 or cash on delivery, to which I chose the second alternative. In the meantime I did my regular monthly recharge of Rs.383 on 28.01.2014, which was incidentally the recharge date for my Tatasky account. However, on 29.01,2014, I found my services deactivated. When I contacted the customer care and also talked with the other executive they informed me that my services have been deactivated on the plea that the cost of the set top box has been debited to my account, and told me to do a recharge of 990 online or wait till some one from Tata sky comes and puts up the new set top box In this regard, I would like to state that this is an infringement to my right to view the channels, as I had recharged with Rs.383 for viewing the channels. Now I am unable to watch my TV even after doing the regular recharge for uninterrupted viewing. Secondly, how can they debit the cost of the new set top box to my account, (1) pending delivery of the same? (2) when I chose to take cash on delivery. I would request you to kindly look into the matter, and do the needful.

A befitting relief for infringement of my right to view the channels, inspite of paying for it.
