I had registered my landline number, and 2 mobiles (all airtel) for the so-called single-login selfcare. When I changed my tariff plans, the numbers were deleted from self care.
When I complained to the mobile helpdesk, I was redirected to the landline helpdesk and vice versa. This went on for a month. I then wrote to the nodal officer for Tamil Nadu. They offered to delete my logins, after which I could create a new userid. I gladly accepted this solution, but nothing was done. Later, someone from the customer care called me, and said deletion was not possible! They offered to integrate my accounts, which I agreed to. Nothing happened again.
I have now written tot he appellate authority, and I get an autoreply that they will resolve this problem within 3 months!.
Most likely, by the end of 3 months, mobile number portability will be in effect in Chennai, and I would switch operators, without changing the number. Not that others will be much better than airtel, but I at least have the satisfaction of depriving airtel of 2 of its allotted numbers.
So, dear people, if you live in a city where Mobile number portability will be implemented, and you are sick of airtel, please wait for the right time and dump them.
