Amazon sold Faulty Handset Unsatisfactory Service

Hi, I had purchased a Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 (Blue) from Amazon on Oct 13, 2014. Ever since I received the phone, there has not been a single day that the phone has been operational. To top that, I have had absolutely pathetic service from the Micromax Service Centre at Dadar (W), with the Centre Manager Mr. Sathish Shah (08806249xxx) treating us with absolute arrogance and utter lack of apathy towards the consumers’ grievances.

It all started with a faulty battery, and we gave our phone at the service center for repair. While ‘repairing’ the battery, the technician managed to damage the phone’s display itself. We had to then give it back to them to rectify the display issue, taking them almost a month to get the same resolved. After handing over the ‘repaired’ phone to us and assuring us that it is in perfect working condition, the concerned person at the Service Centre said that we would not get an acknowledgment of the Job Sheet. We found it really odd, as this would mean that the customer will not have any records of a previous issue with his phone in case the phone displays any subsequent issues. Within a day of getting the phone back, I noticed that the SIM wasn’t getting detected in the handset at all. I tried using the same in other handsets, and it worked just fine, clearly implying that the handset was still faulty. When we went back to the Service Centre to demand a replacement, clearly at our wits’ end, the Service Centre Manager (someone who in his position should ideally be extremely empathetic and attentive to consumer complaints), was extremely arrogant and said that “he has no interest in listening to the case history”. In his exact words, “if you are not going to provide me with a solution to the problem, I am not interested in listening to you”. We were literally shocked at this attitude and told him that we would lodge a complaint with the Consumer Forum. To which his response was “Jo ukhaadna hai ukhaad lo!” This was way beyond what we had expected, and I would like to hereby express my serious displeasure at this kind of treatment meted out to consumers by Micromax representatives. It is a disappointment that after being one of the earliest customers of your company’s handsets, we are being subject to such blatant rudeness on part of the company.
