I am constrained to write to you that on the late afternoon of 24th June, 2013, when I was returning from Himachal Pradesh alongwith my wife, my son, daughter-in-law and my daughter, I stopped at Pind Balluchi Green, Murthal for a bottle of water as my son had suffered stomach ache due to lose motions on the way. I went to fast food counter of Pind Balluchi outside the Restaurant for ” over-the-counter ” purchase of a bottle of mineral water. I was asked to pay Rs. 25/- for a bottle of Aquafina with MRP of Rs.18/- . This was not acceptable to me for the fact that the amount being charged was more than the printed MRP and the sale was over the counter. I wanted to speak to some senior person and one middle aged gentleman claiming to be the Manager of the Restraurant came over the counter and started the conversation with me in a very rude manner stating that if I want to buy I need to pay Rs.25/- else leave it. I emphasised that he can not charge me more than the MRP but he very rudely said ” aap ne lena hai to lo varna chhod do, paise to itne he lagaingay”. He went to the extent of outright refusal of selling it. I then asked him to provide me a bill for the sale and sign the bill with his name etc. that he refused. The bill of Rs.25/- that he was providing me for this did not mention Aquafina but “Packaged Drinking Water”. I refused to accept it and did not buy the bottle of water against my wish as my son was unwell. Subsequently, I took my son inside the Restaurant and ordered same bottle of mineral water and this time I was charged Rs.35/- + several taxes. The Bill No. FB/06929 of 24th June, 2013 of Pind Balluchi Green refers. Took up the matter with Pepsico India who confirmed that the retailer can not charge more than the MRP over the counter sale as they are provided with Refrigerators for cooling also Sent my complaints to Pind Balluchi also on its email id murthal@pindballuchi.com and kept Pepsico India CC’d too. Several reminders to both of these have not yielded any result though Pepsico India had assured that it will take appropriate action against Pind Balluchi, Murthal ( Haryana ).
