Hello, I purchased Cadbury Bournville Cranberry chocolate around 3 pm from Big Bazaar at Chinchwad Pune on 04-Dec-2013. Just outside the Big Bazaar when I took off the packaging of the chocolate it looked stale and on carefully observing it I could easily see worms running over the chocolate inside the wrapper. This has been found in the reputed Cadbury Bournville Cranberry chocolate with batch number T30413 and manufacturing date as 04/2013. I purchased 2 such chocolates for the cost of Rs 60 from the Big Bazaar store in Chinchwad Pune. On seeing the worms in the chocolate I immediately informed the Big Bazaar store manager Mr Sudheer who in turn on examining the chocolate called up and informed Cadbury Manager/distributer Mr Manoj. I was then asked to keep the sample of the chocolate in freezer at my home and told that someone from Cadbury will visit my place to examine the sample. This is shocking and highly disturbing as the stale chocolate was almost consumed by a 3 year old child (my niece) which has brought her in a state of shock seing the worms in her favourite chocolate. Consuming the chocolate would have had an adverse affect on anyones health. I have decided to escalate this issue on the basis of health and safety terms to the highest level and I am also looking evaluating the options available to me in obtaining a proper justification. I may also approach consumer forum if proper explanation and justification is not provided for the incident. I have been a big fan of Cadbury chocolates along with my family and this incident has really brought us all in shock and sadness. On bringing the issue to Cadbury’s and Big Bazaar’s notice, Cadbury manager Saumya Pathak visited our home and took the sample for investigation in their laboratory and never replied back with any explanation. Attached are the photographs taken which shows the Big Bazaar bill, chocolate with worm and and chocolate wrapper with manufacturing date and batch number mentioned on it. I can provide more photographs with the live worm on the chocolate. Looking forward for a prompt reply. Thanks and Regards
This could have caused enormous health hazard to anyone who would have consumed the chocolate. Children do not always investigate the chocolate before consuming. The child who was about to consume the chocolate is my 3 year old niece who was highly terrified seeing the live worm in the chocolate and terror for food products has been set up in her young mind
