BIMTECH Does not have AIU equivalence Certification – Advisory

I have studied in Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH, greater noida) PGDM(IB) , batch 2006-08. Recently in June 2013 I applied for UGC-NET and got qualified with 68.57% score which is quite a good score and gives an option for JRF too. When I applied for the e-certificate UGC asked for document of Master degree and other required documents. Even after sending those documents I wasn’t able to download the certificate from the
UGC website, which I required very urgently for the Assistant Lectureship Recruitment 2014 of Bihar. Now in October 2014 I got a letter from UGC that even after qualifying my candidature is being cancelled as BIMTECH’s PGDM(IB) course has got no MBA equivalence as per Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

After checking out the details online I came to know that BIMTECH has applied the AIU equivalence only for its PGDM course (not for PGDM(IB) course) and that too after 2009 and on AIU website it shows that its process is still pending . BIMTECH’s registrar Mr. K.C. Arora ,after consulting the Director Mr. H. Chaturvedi ,explained and emailed me that as it costs huge amount of money (5 lakh Rs. per annum) and time ,also there was no requirement from student side ,so they didn’t apply for AIU certification till date (However they have thought for it in future which would be applied only for future candidates and not for earlier students). Mr. K.C. Arora said ” we didn’t feel the requirement for AIU equivalence as we go for 100% placement, other colleges may be needing that because they might not be able to make 100% placement”. Moreover he said that we don’t have any solution for you and if there is any solution you find it and tell us. So, after spoiling my hardwork and my career ,College didn’t even bother to help me out.

All the top B-schools ( like IIMs, IMT, XLRI etc.) other Pvt. B-Schools (like AMITY, Asia Pacific Institute of management, Narsee Monjee etc.)have got AIU certification http://www.aiuweb.org/Evaluation/evaluation.asp as they care for students career and future.

Is it justifiable the college spends so much on Brand Management but only for 5 lakh Rs. per annum they have played with my career and now if I want to go for Govt. job/ higher studies I have no way out other than doing the
Master’s once again from any other institution.

I want the college to upgrade my degree to AIU equivalence and compensate for this opportunity loss and loss of 5 working years from my career. I also want to make the students aware of such technical traps and think several times before taking admission in such colleges and spoil one’s career entirely.

Regards,
Priyanka
