I had purchased one Centre Table 4474 from Gupta Sons, S.C.O. 29, Sector 7-C, Madhya Marg, Chandigarh – 160019 (U.T.), vide Cash Memo No. 7339, dated 19/12/2013.

Strangely enough, the glass table broke down just like house of cards, but with a big bang, shelling the splinters of broken glass all around. Fortunately, there was no one around the room at that time, otherwise there could have been some casualties. It happened on August 7, 2014. Immediately after the incident, I contacted ‘Gupta Sons’. I was simply told that the glass products are not covered under guarantee and that the table might have been hit or pushed. The table was always placed at a safe place and thus it was never hit or pushed. Under the circumstances, it is assumed that there was a manufacturing defect because of which the table collapsed with the passage of time of its manufacturing. I have been quiet all these days, but unable to reconcile. It was quite a costly item and losing it just in a few months time sounds strange and awkward, especially when it is from a reputed company like ‘Durian’ of great fame. I may add that I had purchased a sofa set from the same shop, vide cash memo No.6888, dated 21/02/2013, and it is doing fine.

I shall be grateful if this complaint of mine is given due consideration.
