Fortis Hospital – Overcharging neither explained reason

My complain is regarding overcharging by the Fortis Hospital, Bangalore. My father, Bidhu Sekhar Tripathy, went through a heart bypass surgery at the hospital on 11th March with Dr Vivek Jawali and was discharged on 17th Mar 2015. At the time of discharge, by total bill amount was Rs 392,909. The hospital billing dept did some calculation and asked me to pay Rs 173,371.00 and communicated to me that the rest would be paid by my insurance based on my eligibility. The insurance Mediassist takes about 4 to 6 weeks to do the calculation based on my insurance terms and conditions and decided that I’m eligible for amount Rs 238,800.00. Subsequently, the insurance company MediAssist paid that amount to Fortis hospital. Since the total bill was Rs 392,909 and the Insurance paid Fortis hospital Rs 238,800 as per my eligibility, I should have paid the difference of Rs 154,109 instead of Rs 173,371 that the hospital asked me to pay (and I paid) at the time of discharge. This means, the hospital charged me an excess of Rs 19,262. Inspite of following up with the hospital for more than a month with Mr Mohammad Rafi and Ms Ojaswini Mahajan, they have neither explained me the reason for difference not have returned my money. While they agree that this amount is an overcharge, they have not attempted to return this money to me or to insurance after more than 1 month of following up. I’m attaching the original claim settlement from MediAssist that calculates my eligibility amount and all the communication with Fortis. Note that, for 3 weeks, I followed up on phone before having the written communication that is attached here.

I Want Fortis hospital to return the extra amount of Rs 19,262 that I overpaid or explain me the reason for difference.
