Gold bracelet brought from M.P Jewellers

I brought a Gold bracelet for my Husband from M.P Jewellers (Ultadanga Branch) in the month of Oct 09.

After wearing it for less than a month, it started wearing out / breaking at few places and we brought it back to the shop. They said that they will need to put in some extra gold & repair the same. Since it was brought less than a month back, they said they will waive off the repairing cost but we will have to pay for the extra gold being used.

We agree for the same.

Now when it was repaired, we found that instead of the weight being higher than the Original one (as they said they will be adding some gold to repair it), it weighted less than the Original one.

When questioned they said, it was because the bracelet was polished after repairing & hence there was a gold loss. We did not ask them to polish the bracelet as it was less than a month old.

They also charged us around Rs160, saying there was an extra gold used in repairing.

This is a sheer cheating from such a reputed Jewellary house and its a shame that they can cheat people in this way. Today the bracelet weighted less than what we had originally paid for and we are also charged extra though there is no addition to the weight.

As the gold price is souring high, even a little difference makes a huge loss.

Can anyone check this fraud behaviour? Is there any forum addressing this issue.
Can we atleast make M.P. Jewellers give us back our original weight of gold.
