Horrible experience – Please do not stay at hotel sea gull, digha

I had a horrible staying experience in this hotel this June.

I stayed there from 5th June 2010 noon to 6th June 2010 noon, Room no – 305, Bill no – 4514 dated 6th June [room rent 1800 + service charge].

Staying in this hotel is probably the most pathetic experience in my life. Only plus point about this hotel is you can get good sea view from most of the rooms and it has a plenty car parking space, else all are terrible.

According to me here is the list of negative points:-

1. AC was just for show. It worked only 4/5 hrs in 24 hrs span. In the afternoon suddenly AC stopped working. On asking it was told from the reception that there is power cut in 1 of the 2 phases. In the evening when I came back after a stroll I found that AC is still not working. I went down to complain. An electrician came to inform that it is due to voltage fluctuation and can’t be solved. But I found all street lights, shop lights, house lights were glowing fine. It indicated that there is no such problem in phase or voltage etc. At night the condition became the worst. Again I went down and came across to some other boarders who are facing this same problem from last 2 days.

It was around 11.30 PM at night and when the other boarders were also complaining about the same instead of feeling guilty the reception guy started shouting on the guests and behaved as if we are asking for something which we are not supposed to get.

They are giving separate treatment for the boarders staying in rooms of Rs. 2800. They are getting all day AC facility. No problem with power supply or voltage fluctuation.

2. In their hotel leaflet it is showing that people are bathing on the seashore in front of the hotel. But in fact the nearest point of the sea does not allow you to take bath. You have to walk for 5/7 minutes to go to a place for the same.

3. Toilets are not as per quality, the cleanliness and hygiene a boarder should expect after paying around Rs. 2000 for a single day is not there. Few things in the toilets are broken. In fact room is also not very clean, walls are soggy. Bed cover was torn. Such a room max can expect a rent of Rs. 500 not more than that.

4. No room service. (No bell switch + phone was out of order). For each query I had to step down to ground floor from 2nd floor.

5. There is no separate mobile charge point, even 1 switch is connected for multiple purpose, such as on switching the mosquito repellent the night lamp is getting on automatically, no switch to switch off the TV power as it is directly connected to the plug point.

6. There is menucard in the rooms but no restaurant inside hotel. One has to walk out of the hotel to have their lunch or dinner. On order all the items are not available in room as well. No water purifier is available.

7. Stair case is very narrow and common place is very dark.
