Dear Sir/Madam, 1. There are 2 berths allocated for AC-III tier Tatkal quota, from Kachiguda to Nizamuddin Railway Station in Train No: 12649 (Sampark Kranti). This information can be obtained from IRCTC web page. 2. On 3rd October 2014, I started booking Tatkal ticket of 5th October for my Brother (Durgesh) and Sister-in-law (Deepika), for the above said journey. 3. I used my laptop and IRCTC user ID “ashokmmmec”. 4. After making payment (HDFC Net-banking), transaction session was declared invalid but amount got deducted. 5. I did not bother to verify booking history for this transaction because if it would have produced me confirmed ticket, my next booking attempt will only result me Waitlist/RAC ticket as only 2 berths are there in Tatkal quota. 6. But if last transaction has not produced me confirmed bookings, I may or may not get confirmed bookings in next booking attempt depending upon other customers’ transactions. 7. So, I hurried to open new session with IRCTC user ID “durgesh278” on the same laptop to book the ticket. 8. I used different IRCTC user ID “durgesh278” (my brother’s user ID who is one of passenger) to avoid the error of “Multiple sessions of a user ID” and to save time. 9. In this attempt I got confirmed bookings of 2 berths. This time I paid the amount with SBI Net-banking seeing the failure in earlier HDFC Net-banking. 10. Later on I found that my first transaction done with user ID “ashokmmmec” has also produced confirmed booking of 2 berths. 11. Now, I was having 4 confirmed berths of Tatkal quota for the same two passengers. (While only 2 berths are there in Tatkal quota as can be verified with IRCTC.) 12. I called customer care only to get response that nothing can be done. The cancellation of any of the two bookings will only result in zero refund. 13. Since there was no choice left for me, finally I decided to cancel one of the booking with zero refund. So that any other passenger in need can at least get confirmed berths. 14. So, I end up with loss of an amount of Rs. 4223.70/- 15. Now-a-days where it is too difficult to get Tatkal Rail ticket for any one, I am the one who got 4 confirmed berths while only 2 berths were there in Tatkal quota. 16. I have written many E-mails to IRCTC customer care for the refund of amount; but all are replied with negative response. 17. So, it is requested to look in this matter and do the needful to get me the refund.
Refund of Rs. 4223.70/-
