Makemytrip – No clarity on Infant Child age policy

I booked an online air ticket on 12/3/2015, Travel Date: 4/4/2015, Airlines: SpiceJet, Flight No. SG-153 and Airline PNR: EYRPXA through MakeMyTrip. The ticket was booked for 3 passengers including my daughter who is 2 years old and her “Date of Birth is 2/7/2012”. While booking the ticket, I checked the terms and conditions for “Infant & Child” passengers on both MakeMyTrip and SpiceJet websites. It mentioned that baby up to 2 years will be considered as an Infant and above 2 years as a Child passenger. We all know how the age is calculated worldwide; person’s age is considered the number of years they have completed on last birthday. So in my case my daughter’s DOB is 2/7/2012 and she has completed 2 years on her last birthday. When I went to get my boarding pass on the travel date the staff started arguing me on this and was very rude in communicating. She continued to say that my daughter is above 2 years and you have to buy a fresh ticket for her or else she cannot travel. They did not assigned me a boarding pass unless I bought fresh ticket (PNR:S3BDJY) for my daughter costing INR 10,355/-. Why such information are clearly not mentioned on both websites. Moreover, if this is the case both the website should have an option of entering ones “Date of Birth” while booking the ticket to categorize the passengers precisely and avoid the hassles, which we faced. On top of that, SpiceJet staff was not at all helpful and was so rude to us, as if we don’t worth to travel by air. I belong to a middleclass family but we also have some wishes which we make happen with our hard-earned money. SpiceJet staff made me paid INR 10,355/- for no reasons, even if we kept on saying that we do not require a seat for our baby, we will manage but they were not ready to listen. I urge to help me out in getting the entire refund of INR 10,355/- either from MakeMyTrip or SpiceJet, which I had to pay for no reason, no fault of mine and their inaccurate information on the websites.

Complete refund either from MakeMyTrip or Spicejet for the ticket I had to buy costing INR 10,355/- because of their ambiguity. Also an apology from Spicejet staff.
