I purchased a Maruti Ritz vxi (Registration no. WB02AF7099) from an authorized Maruti dealer Auto Hitech in Southern Avenue Kolkata on July 30th, 2014 and took the delivery of it on August 10th, 2014. On 28th July, I had visited Auto Hitech for the selection of accessories for the car. Among finalizing other things, there was a parking sensor which I was planning to buy. Mr. Prabhat Chowdhury, Accessories Manager explained to me that there are two variants of Rs. 2400 (the one with just a buzzer) and Rs. 2890 (the one with a digital display and buzzer). I pin-pointed to him the Rs. 2890 model with the intent to buy the same. The next day I paid for the same along with the down payment amount. On the day of delivery however, I found out that the parking sensor fitted in my car was the Rs. 2400 one (the one with just a buzzer). I immediately called Mr. Chowdhury as he was on leave and he gave me an excuse of the selected model not being in his stock (although it was displayed, right there). Apart from not following my specific request, what bothered me most was the fact that he did not even have the common courtesy to inform me at least over phone that he has changed my selection. After an exchange of few words, he committed that he would be changing the parking sensor the next time I visit their showroom. As I wanted to solve the matter amicably, I agreed to the proposition. On 16th August I made my next trip to Auto Hitech. As my house and the showroom are in different corners of the city and it takes me more than 90 minutes to reach there, I informed Mr. Chowdhury that I’ll be coming to change the parking sensors. Mr. Chowdhury agreed to the same. Upon reaching there, Mr. Chowdhury made us wait for more than 30 minutes before he had the sudden surge of realization that the sensors cannot be changed as the pervious sensors were of 21 mm and the new ones are of 19 mm! A simple fact about the product, he did not realize before making false promises and wasting my time and fuel. Furthermore, it took him a lot of time to convince his mechanics under him to take a look into my car just because it was drizzling outside. He asked me to come back another day and that resulted me in to writing a mail to Maruti,as a result of which I was called upon again by Auto Hitech and they mixed and matched the parking censor (i.e. they kept the transducers from the previous device and changed the rest of it). It seemed to be working fine and I immediately withdrew my complaint.
Just dealing with Auto Hitech is increasingly becoming a traumatic experience for me. I have wasted enough time on this matter due to their negligent behavior. Just talking to these morons with lackluster attitudes has been a cause of mental agony. I now want to resolve this matter by either replacing the entire bumper with the correct sensor system (also Teflon coat the bumper as it is already done in the existing one) without incurring any direct/indirect cost; or taking back the car and returning me my capital. I am attaching the entire email conversation as a word document as supporting. I can also provide copy of bills, etc. if required.
