I bought a Happy Family Floater (Gold Plan) Mediclaim policy (Policy No : 311604/48/2014/374, insured’s code – 54979285) covering myself, spouse and my parents. The annual premium was calculated to be Rs 20,146 inclusive of servicce tax. When I tried to renew the said policy online for the second year on 14/05/2014, the premium is shown to be Rs 45,942 as per the company website. I am unable to continue the said policy due to this steep 130% hike. I wouldn’t have taken the policy in the first place if I was informed about such hike in interim period before buying the policy. I consider this as a serious breach of trust and contract.
1. Once the company accepted the policy a yearback, they should be compelled to obey the contract and allow me to continue the policy with premium, terms and conditions unaltered. 2. Failing this, they must compensate health coverage of all the insured persons with an amount of Rs 20 (Twenty) Lakhs to be paid at once.
