Policies Provided with Missleading Information by HDFC Life Insurance

I hold the policy no. 14512832 of HDFC SL Classic Assure Insurance Plan. When I felt that the returns on the policy plan were inadequate, I decided to discontinue with it. On nonpayment of subsequent premiums, I was telephonically approached by Mr. B.L. Patel, who stated himself as a higher authority of HDFC Life. He brought forward to me a way through by telling me that I may transfer the premiums to a different plan of HDFC and avoid lapse of the Classic Assure policy no. 14512832. He proposed me to transfer to HDFC Life Sampoorn Samridhi Insurance Plan and pay the subsequent premiums towards the same. On acceptance of the above proposal, I paid the second premium of 49,000 Rs., for which I was provided with Policy no. 15606562 of HDFC Life Sampoorn Samridhi Plan.

The plan is of 5 years term with a premium of 50,000 Rs. annually. He said that the premium of policy no. 14512832(Rs 50,000) has been transferred to the new policy, and if I pay the rest of the premiums all at once, that is, the rest of the amount of 1,50,000 Rs., I will be returned with a bonus of 40% on the total amount of premiums I pay towards this Plan.

The above statement was also confirmed telephonically by a said bonus department officer, Mr. Vishal Jaggu Trivedi. I accepted the proposal and also gave a 1,50,000 Rs. cheque, for which, I was provided with Policy no. 15645793. On suspicion, when I contacted Mr. Patel, he said that I will be receiving another policy, in which all the details he has provided to me shall be in written and I will get the same by the end of January, 2013. On not receiving the policy, when I attempted to contact Mr. Patel, he was unavailable and has been the same ever since. This has left me in a state of confusion, with me being the holder of three different policies, when I was not even willing to go through with one. I was shocked that such a reputed company takes path of such fraudulent means to meet its requirements. After my numerous complaints regarding these policies over the past year, all I received against those complaints were automatically generated letters stating that All the details had been mentioned in the policy and that I was provided with a 30 days locking period. I do not believe they even took the pain to investigate the authenticity of the policy sale. On the contrary, the company was naive enough to provide me with an ECS(Electronic Clearance Service) option as a reply to my last complaint. They actually believe that I am unwilling to go through with the policy, yet I would accept the ECS(Electronic Clearance Service). Even today, I get calls from their call centers from all parts of the country, requesting me to go through with the premium payments. Yet, the company probably does not have a responsible person who can come forward and take responsibility of their actions as well as the responsibility of the returns of their customers’ investments. It is clear enough that HDFC Life Insurance Company is all but trying to protect its agents for the sole reason that they bring business to the company, irrespective of the methods employed by them to meet the targets.
