SBI Not Enabling Mobile Banking

Online banking for SBI really takes the ultimate test of our patience. Details as below – 1. If I have to change my mobile number associated with the bank, I will not be able to do that online. I will have to take a print out of a form, fill details manually and go to the branch for activation. Yes, each time! 2. If I add a beneficiary for inter-banking transfer, I have 2 options of activating it. a)Go to the branch(yes, of course), b) OTP through mobile(if I am not able to change my mobile number because of point 1, then GOD help me!). The OTP never gets sent to your mobile promptly, especially if I am currently outside India. 3.If somehow I managed to pull through point 2 and added an inter-bank beneficiary, I will not be able to transfer money to the same for 5 days! Yes, 5 days! 4. If I want to avail the mobile banking facility while sitting outside the country, it never works. It does not allow me to enable mobile banking from my smartphone nor does it allow me to do an IMPS transfer.

Why make things so complicated for the customer in case of online banking? I have checked the online banking facilities for other banks in India and I am pretty much assured that life is really easy for their customers. I have heard that SBI does everything for security reasons. Does all these points really make things secure for the customers? Instead, it is actually making the life of the customers as hell! Things can be made secure in other ways following specific set of protocols. Do SBI want us to close all our accounts with them?
