Spicejet – Last minute flight cancellation

My sister (Sangeeta Das) was supposed to board her spicejet flight on 16-12-2014 (Scheduled departure at 1:40 PM Flight SG-881 Ticket PNR = Z5ZTTV Delhi to Guwahati via Bagdogra). After reaching airport she was refused entry by security staff due to all spicejet flights got cancelled. On checking with Spicejet counter, she was informed that flights got cancelled. There was no prior intimation (Telephonic, mail or sms) given by spicejet authorities till the time of departure. Even on checking online status in spicejet portal, the flight was showing as “On Time”. My sister had permanently left her rented accommodation at Delhi and had no where to go after the flights got cancelled. The airlines did not make any attempts to arrange alternative travel arrangement with other airlines. This has caused severe mental harassment to my sister. She had to make her own arrangement at Delhi till 29th Dec’14 for the next flight which was freshly booked on 16-12-2014 at a much higher rate of nearly Rs 9485/-(Indigo flight 6E 221 booking ref id RC7IRN on 29-12-2014). Therefore, I request on behalf of my sister to penalize the airline for the type of negligence shown by them(regarding last minute cancellation and no intimation to passengers) and make the airline to compensate for the mental harassment and monetary expenses for the new ticket & own arrangement for stay at Delhi till 29-12-2014.
