I had travelled to the US in January 2015, and requested for international roaming facility by additional fee on my Vodafone postpaid number 9820XX3756. I arrived in the states on January 26th and there was no service/ network coverage on my phone starting that day till February 3rd, 2015 when I left for India. On enquiring on Vodafone care about the no coverage/ network issues they informed the services have been suspended due to non payment of bill. his was surprising as we had already paid the monthly bill for January. We were advised to go to Vodafone care and check further. The Vodafone care in Bangalore (Vijaynagar), informed us that out of the total bill of 7000 (that was accumulated over a period of 7 days when I had no network in my phone) , approximately 6k was due to data charges. Upon enquiring for further details, they advised us to drop a mail to official Vodafone care email IDs.

We dropped an email to Vodafone care on February 9th, 2015 however they too just told us that it was due to 6k in data charges and inspite of repeated mails, have refused to share any further details. Last week Vodafone sent us a threatening mail accusing of non-payment of bill with interest charges accruing to Rs. 8000/- The customer care officials at Vodafone stores are useless. Even repeated mails have failed us to get details on how the billing has been done? How can a phone that has no network coverage, accumulate 7k in bill without usage? Don’t consumers have the right to know the details of their usage? Who will pay for the agony I went through when my phone services were suspended abroad without prior intimation. Would request Vodafone authorities to stop threatening educated customers with legal action. Coercing people or harassing them by stopping their services while they struggle to find a way out. We have a right to information and deserve to know how the billing has been done that resulted in 7k internet charges in 10 days time when the phone that did not have service/ network.
