Vodafone to Airtel Mobile Number Porting – SIM Not Activated

Hi, My name is Anupam Dave and I recently opted for my number (+91988XXX46780) to be ported from Vodafone to Airtel (Airtel Sim#: 899100090XXX3710600U). It has been more than 8 days and the number hasnt been activated yet. There was no tele verification call done and I wasnt able to call 59059 as there was no network. Even when I tried making a call to 59059 from the alternate number (+91 9620XX9006), I wasnt able to get through. I walked into a number of Airtel stores and what was disturbing is that none of them knew the solution. Customer care was helpless too, all they had as a solution was to either direct me to the nearest Airtel store or wait for 24 hours which was the standard answer, I am now without a connection since 3 days. Not sure what is the problem and why isn’t anyone from Airtel able to resolve it. Suddenly it seems like the problem is as big as a national security issue which needs some secret agent has to come and resolve. It is a simple problem, and I am sure there is a fix to it. Just that nobody.. NOBODY is able to fix it.
