Sir, Last year, I had purchased a Dell Inspiron 7520 Special Edition laptop bearing service tag number 4F5QXX1 and express service code 9623777077 worth ?62,000 from the Dell Exclusive Store, Kankurgachi, Kolkata. I am a student of the Presidency University, Kolkata, pursuing B.Sc. in Physics and had bought the system with the aim of some fruitful aid in my studies. But it has been quite the opposite. The purchase of this system has perhaps been a mistake. The system had issues right from the second month of purchase and were solved on the phone by the company’s technical support team. For this purpose, I had to take long duration phone calls, sometimes ranging more than an hour and half. One would appreciate the wastage of time I had to suffer, if details are checked. This is not the end though. A few weeks later, there arose a problem with the system’s keyboard, leaving it totally non-functional. Finally the experts decided that a keyboard replacement was required and the replacement was done after an unexpectedly long time. At that time the system was under warranty, so I didn’t have to bear any cost. The warranty expired in July this year and surprisingly from late August, the system is again malfunctioning and its the same problem with the keyboard as before. The experts tried to solve it on the phone, but in vain and only wasting more of my precious time. Finally they asked me to take it to Dell Service Centre to fix the issues. Since it is out of warranty, they are claiming quite a lot of money and not providing data backup guarantee as well. It is not expected from a reputed company to lure common person like me with such great features but packed into a faulty system that can not even function properly for half a year and not only this, the problem is recurring which is subtracting unnecessary bucks from my pocket even after paying such a heavy price for it. Even suggesting Dell to someone is a shame given the fraud that I am into. I would like the authority to look into the matter with care and I claim a refund for all the harassment that I have faced due to the unsatisfactory performance and service from the company and its product. A complete replacement of the system would be good since I can no longer trust on the company’s faith and that the system would not malfunction even after a repair. Or some other fruitful remedies that may guarantee performance are welcome. Please let me know if any document is required as proof as right now I have only hard copies. Hoping for a quick solution. I want a total replacement of the system with one having the same features but with a satisfactory and trust able performance, or a total refund of money so that I can buy another from a trustworthy brand.
