Fraudulent Withdrawal from SBI ATM on my Asavings account

I have an account with State Bank of India, Chamarajpet Bangalore. The bank has given me a debit card, that I hadn’t used in the last 2 years. On 16th of January 2013 I got am SMS saying that 20,000Rs x 2 has been withdrawn from my account in an ATM in Calcutta (the card was and is very safe and secure with me). I have never visited Calcutta and was present in Bangalore at the time of the incident. I went to bank manager and filed a complaint. Also formally lodged a complaint with the police. The bank said they would investigate but didn’t provide me with any response for a month. I then escalated it to Ombudsman, who said that it is not their purview to do detailed investigation frauds. The bank says that issue is closed, with even looking into the cause. Kindly help. There is no negligence on my part and bank is clearly to blame as they did not make the card secure enough to prevent it from cloning. RBI Guidelines say that it is bank’s duty to ensure that the card is secure. many of my friends have account with other banks and those banks have compensated the individual even before investigating into a fraud. Kindly help. I badly need this money. Guys, beware of taking an SBI Debit card, it is highly insecure technically and when you have problem with their account or card, they are the most customer unfriendly.

My money back plus compensation for all the stress I had to go through in the last 6 months.
