Great Lakes – Advance Paid Not Refunded

I got an admission offer from Great Lakes last year i.e. for 2009 batch. I accepted the offer and paid the initial amount of Rs. 50,000/- for the admission into the same. Since the deadline to pay the initial fees was just a week, I could not think of arranging my finances and paid the initial fees. However, later when I approached the bank for the loan of Rs. 10 lakhs, they did not approve my application as the institute was not AICTE approved. Further I could not avail the loan facility from Indian Bank (which has a tie-up with the institute) as they were approving loan only upto Rs. 7.5lakhs. Hence as I could not arrange the funds for my fees, I had to withdraw my application. I have been in constant touch with the management to consider refunding of the fees paid for the admission. Earlier also Mr. Sundar Sir (who was looking after the finance department) took all my bank details but there was no result. I belong to a middle class family and not too sound on finances. This can be gauged from my continuous effort to get the fees refunded. Further, I have never received any receipt from the management for the fees paid. When queried with Mr Swaminathan, I was informed that institute is not a charitable organization. However, if they wish to build the institute with someone else’s hard earned money, this is not acceptable.

I simply want my hard-earned money to be refunded. If there are any minimal charges which institute might have borne because of my withdrawal, that could be deducted from the amount while rest of the amount i.e. min of Rs40000/- which was refunded for the previous batch of 2008 application withdrawals should be refunded.
