OVERNITE EXPRESS – product missing poor response

My wife had sent a packet weighing 950 gms (marked as 1 Kg on consignment note number 3138132911). The package contained 3 suits for my daughter. The packet was delivered on Jan 18 at my daughter’s office in mindspace in Hyderabad. Upon opening the packet she found that 1 silk suit was missing (approx price of Rs. 3000). The other 2 suits were there in the packet. My daughter also found that the stiches on top of the packet were not there and it was sealed thru a tape (my wife had sealed the packet by stitching it from the top). This means that stiches had been removed, silk suit taken out and parcel was resealed thru a tape. We immediately got in touch with OVERNITE EXPRESS Delhi office and we were directed by branch incharge Mr. SUNIL KUMAR to contact their Customer services manager – Mr. RAJESH SHARMA. Mr. Rajesh Sharma promised to verify the weight of parcel at each stage in the entire delivery chain of OVERNITE EXPRESS and also promised that he will share the investigation details. After several reminders, he came back and said that his company has verified and that there has been no pilferage. We asked for the proof with respect to weight at each point – but he did not provide any investigation report. He did keep us engaged for almost over a month and also told us that his corporate team is looking into the matter and that he is hopeful there will be a resolution to our satisfaction. On Feb 10 he wrote that we should wait for another day – indicating that issue is going to be resolved now. But around Feb 20, the company closed the issue from their side saying that they can not do any thing further. We have done intense follow up – almost for 4-5 weeks but there has been no resolution. We felt that company deliberately engaged us for 4-5 weeks so as to tire us out.

We would want the following : 1. Compensation for the lost suit : Rs. 3000 2. Refund of freight charges of Rs. 240 3. An apology from the company for abusing consumer’s rights and showing little respect towards consumer rights
