SBI Doesn’t Care for Fraudulent Transaction on Credit Card

Sir, I happened to look up your information on the consumer grievance redressal section of SBI credit cards. Case nos. and token references for this disputed case logged with SBI Credit cards 1-57725775, 1-131970612, 1-131970612 & 1-591485569, Ref:FSMG04 4000751 I would like to describe my long pending case in short. On 1st April 2014 an unknown entity transacted on an online portal using my SBI credit card for $573 (Rs.35,610) while I was asleep in the night. I learnt about this when I received alert SMSes when I woke up early morning. I immediately called the customer care and blocked the credit card. It was shocking that somebody could key in my credit card no. on a traveling portal without any hassle, that too when I’ve never carried my credit card out of the house??? I bought this to the attention of the customer care and the card was blocked immediately.

Then the long investigation procedure started by SBI which required me to send a hand written dispute form and other dispute forms which was downloaded from their website. Eventually, after 5 months the case was closed in my favor and the temporary credit was made permanent credit. SBI cards reissued a fresh credit card and couple of days later surprisingly they reopened the case(in September) and now they are asking me to pay for the fraudulent transaction once again which was closed permanently in my favor. I followed their complaint redressal mechanism again and wrote a string of emails to the customer care head, then the nodal officer and finally the CEO; but it was of no avail. They are holding me responsible and asking me to pay for the fraudulent transaction once again which was permanently settled once and for all in the month of August. I’ve also written to RBI Banking Ombudsman complaint no. BO(M&G)/CTS.4817/11992/02.01.001/2014-15 dated Feb 16, 2015. But the Ombudsman has expressed helplessness and has expressed inability to issue verdict and has closed the case at their end. Hence I’m expressing my concern to the Consumer Affairs to get my grievance redressed in a fair manner. I would appreciate if you could do the needful to get justice for my case. Thank you.

The amount of fraudulent transaction i.e.: $573 needs to be made as a permanent credit and the late payment charges need to be reversed back. SBI credit card needs to pay a compensation of Rs.2,00,000 for the sheer inconvenience, mental trauma and agony caused unnecessarily over a period of 10 months. Appreciate for all the help!
