I have an SBI savings account at IIT Chennai branch. On April 4, 2014, at around 11:00PM, an unauthorized/fraud ATM withdrawal of Rs.19500 from my account took place in Khargar (Maharshtra), while my debit card was with me in Chennai. As soon as the transaction took place, I received two messages on my mobile phone saying that Rs.15000 has been deducted using my SBI debit card from an ATM (S10A700792001) at Khargar, Maharashtra. After few seconds, I got another message saying that Rs.4500 has been deducted from the same ATM. Surprisingly, I was in Chennai at that time and my debit card was safely with me. I quickly visited one nearby ATM in IIT Madras campus to check my account balance and I found that the transaction had really taken place. I filed a complaint through customer care service and next day visited my SBI home branch (IIT Chennai, branch code 1055) to file another complaint. At first the branch manager was not ready to accept that something of this kind may have happened, but later he registered a complaint. I have to visit the bank after 1 week, to get the latest update about my complaint. However, looking at the attitude of the branch manager towards the issue, I am not very optimistic about his help. If possible kindly look into the matter and help me to get my hard earned money.
