Vodafone High Bills, International Roaming Activated

My husband and I have been using same Vodafone Corporate Plan. I have been receiving such obnoxiously high bills every month (in the ranges of 1000-1700INR) Previously I had never cross-verified the bills,but this time the amount was absolutely over the top.We were literally shocked to receive an abnormal bill of Rs.3971.31 for the month of Dec’14. My husband & I had recently travelled to Bhutan, a 5days trip from 9th Dec’14-13th Dec’14.On 9th Dec’14 after we crossed Binnaguri Cantt. around 11am 3G service was completely down, we switched off our Mobile outside Phuentsholing Border & switched it on only on 13th Dec’14 after reaching Jaigaon after 1:50pm. We had been there for an hour for lunch, little bit shopping& taxi hiring. In Between 1hour from my number few incoming calls received from my folks & a close acquaintances residing at Jaigaon and outgoing calls to the same numbers from Jaigaon itself.

Also, I received a SMS from Vodafone ”WELCOMING TO WEST BENGAL” at 3:03 pm when we were in Taxi on our way to Bagdogra, after being sure of we being well within Indian territory for more that 1hour I switched on the Mobile data option on my smart phone. After the Dec bill received on 27th Dec’14, to our surprise we found that on 13th Dec’14 when we were actually in India,Jaigaon – Alipuduar District after 2pm all the calls & data usages from my number have been considered under International Tariff and moreover after being welcomed by Vodafone to West Bengal Circle,how am I charged International Roaming? Secondly, I wasn’t aware at all that International Roaming was active on my number. We have been communicating via email & phone to Vodafone Customer Care & Nodal since 30th Dec’14 highlighting the tariffs charged as per International Roaming. I have been mentioning in my several mails that I am ready to pay for those actual calls as per National Tariffs but they seem to send me several copy-paste mails with no valid explanations. When we raised the issue that how come International Roaming is active in my number since 1stJan’14 without prior notice SMS/CALL/EMAIL to either of us, without our consent, I questioned and complained if the Executives from call centre can disturbs us by unnecessary calls at odd hours updating new features,caller tunes/internet plans then why not a very important piece of information like Do I require international roaming facility, about such an exorbitant billing was happening. Only after discussion over phone on 9th Jan’14 morning Vodafone takes immediate action to deactivate International Roaming. They are also of the opinion that my number sensed International Tower within India Jaigaon so I have been charged International Roaming. This is highly ridiculous and extremely dangerous that inspite of both of us being well within India for more than an hour.

Approximately Rs.3000/- Billing considered under International Roaming Tariff which should be under National Tariff since these calls were genuinely made from India Jaigaon, West Bengal after 2pm on 13th Dec’14 including Data usages but all considered under International Tariff. Im ready to pay for the same under National Tariff for which Vodafone has to rework the bill & Total Amount that needs to be adjusted = INR 2962.30
