I have been getting excessive billing for the last two billing cycles. Ever since the IGL connection was activated on 16Sep 2011. My bill was as expected. Nobody used to come for taking the meter reading, however the bills were showing expected consumption. My consumption based on the data from the date of installation viz. 16-09-2011 to 16-11-2014 is 281.3 scm for 658 days which means average 0.427 scm/day or 12.802 scm per 30 days or 25.650 for 60 days. However, since the last billing cycle on April 2014. My consumption has been shown more than six times than the average of last 3 years since 2011 as mentioned above. I complained to IGL last month for the checking of possible leakage in my line. A person from IGL visited and said my gas line and gas stove was OK and there is no leakage. I am surprised and unable to understand why my gas consumption and hence the bill has gone up. We are a small family of 3 persons and our consumption pattern has remained the same. In spite of this my consumption has been shown excessively high. As a law abiding citizen, I paid the highly inflated bill of Rs 3045/- on 12-04-2014 and lodged a complaint with IGIL thinking that it will be sorted out. However, to my shock, I got the next bill of Rs 4852/- on 09-06-2014 with due date of 23-06-2014 showing even further increased consumption of 115 scm. Certainly there is some problem from IGIL regarding billing. Possible reasons are: 1) As mentioned above, no reading was ever taken since 16 Sep2011. Possibly the earlier bills were sent on average basis. However, after my complaint to IGIL, a person from IGIL visited and took the reading. After the submission of this reading even further excessive bill was generated. This is not understood. 2) My be my meter is running fast. 3) Possibly fresh readings that were taken for the first time after my complaint to IGIL in April 2014 or wrongly put in the data system. 4) May be there is some problem in accounting. 5) Since no reading was taken earlier for the last 3 years, how was the consumptions estimated by IGIL? I lodged another complaint with IGIL regarding checking of my meter. Based on my complaint, persons from IGIL fitted their own meter on 25-06-2014 in addition to my meter to check the difference in consumption measured by IGIL meter and my meter. Following readings were noted: Meter No Date of reading Date of reading Difference 25-06-2014 26-06-2014 My (customer) 31256951 499.079 scm 499.418 scm 0.339 scm IGIL 3191741 817. 921 scm 818.209 scm 0.288 scm Based on above it is clear that the approximate consumption of 1 day 0.339 scm as measured by customer’s meter and 0.288 scm which is even lower as measured by IGIL’s meter. Both of the above estimates agree well with the average of 0.427 scm (over last 3 years) . For your information my consumption pattern since 16-09-2011 to 16-11-2014 i.e. approximately 3 years is 12.80 scm for 30 days and and 25.60 for 60 days.

Immediate sytoppage of excessive billing and refund of last two excessive bills that I have paid.
